Healthcare Scholarship: U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship

If you’re a university student majoring in a specific health care field and planning on military service, you know you’ll be in school for some time to come. The U.S. Army has a comprehensive scholarship that comes with highly attractive benefits and some requirements for service in the military. The U.S. Army is aware that, while you are studying and completing academic requirements, you don’t have the time to worry about paying for your schooling.

U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Overview

Once you apply for the F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship, your schooling expenses will be covered. This scholarship is renewable, but it also requires that you repay the funds with one year of active duty service for every year that you received the scholarship. You’ll also have a service obligation tied to your fellowship training and residency.

Whether you are studying psychology, medical, veterinary, dental, optometry or in a psychiatric nurse practitioner program, you will qualify for this scholarship. Along with your tuition, the cost of your books, many of your academic fees and your equipment will also be covered.

You need to be enrolled in one of these programs at a U.S. school or in a school located in Puerto Rico. Your school must be accredited in the program you are studying.

Scholarship Requirements

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

•Be a U.S. citizen.
•Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school.
•Qualify to become a commissioned officer of the U.S. Army.
•Be enrolled in an accredited educational institution. The graduate program in which you are enrolled in must be accredited.
•Keep your full-time student status for the entire time you are in school.
